Hibiscus Ginger Margarita

People as Cocktails, pt 2, SELENA😍

As we continue through the people as cocktails series, we had to make a special cocktail for the Queen of Tejano Music, SELENA herself. This margarita is sweet, Selena’s lipstick red thanks to the hibiscus flowers, and has a back hint of something special from the ginger slices. It’s basically heaven in a glass and you will love this!

Ingredients:

For the Hibiscus Tea Concentrate (Makes enough for 2 margaritas):

  • ¼ cup dried hibiscus flowers

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 4-5 slices fresh ginger

For the Hibiscus Ginger Margarita (Serves 1):

  • 4 oz hibiscus concentrate

  • 2-3 oz 100% agave tequila

  • 1.5 oz lime juice

  • Ice

Directions:

For the Hibiscus Ginger Margarita:

  • Add the hibiscus flowers, sugar, water, and ginger to a saucepan and heat on the stove to medium high, whisking until the sugar dissolves. Shut off the heat and let steep for 15-20 minutes, then strain and let cool slightly.

  • Add ice, hibiscus concentrate, tequila, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker and shake until cold. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice and serve with a lime wedge. Enjoy!
