About Me

Growing up…

I was always surrounded by really great cooks and really great food. I was raised in Spain until I was 6, and then moved to California with my mom and sister. Growing up in Spain and visiting my family every year since is what started my passion for food and cooking.

My dad taught me to love simple, but fresh ingredients, often drizzling just olive oil, salt, and garlic, and letting the ingredients shine. My grandma taught me how to take cheap cuts of meat and leftovers and turn them into a dish that makes everyone scraping for seconds and thirds. I would sit in a chair in my grandma’s kitchen and watch her spend hours making delicious food for the whole family like paella, cocido, meatballs, etc. Her low and slow style was drastically different from my mom’s, also a phenomenal cook, but a single mother who worked 50 hours per week, which warranted the challenge of putting a healthy and cheap meal on the table in 30 minutes or less. Being raised in the Bay Area, she also passed on her love of, borderline obsession with, all kinds of Asian food, and taught us how to navigate the aisles of Ranch 99.

I’ve been lucky enough to take the beauty of all styles and adapt them to my own style: a little bit Spanish grandma, a little bit Rachael Ray, and a little bit Chrissy Teigen (I eat healthy, but I still crave cheesy, carby comfort meals just like anyone else). I hope to share my passion for food with you, and help you get deliciously healthy meals on the table, faster.
