Cranberry Kentucky Mule

CRANBERRY KENTUCKY MULE😍

Nothing like an easy peasy cocktail recipe that uses ingredients you probably already have on hand. Perfectly spiced, and loaded with fall flavors to really get you into the holiday spirit. It can also be a great way to use up any leftover cranberry sauce, a double win for me! This also tastes great as a mocktail, so skip the bourbon if that’s more your jam!

I included a super simple cranberry sauce recipe you can use for these cocktails below, but feel free to use what you already have made, or even cranberry jam would work well too. It’s all about ease this Thanksgiving!

Serves 1.

For the Cranberry Kentucky Mule:

  • 2 oz bourbon (I love Woodford Reserve, but another good one is Old Forester)

  • ½ oz fresh lemon or lime juice

  • 2 tbsps cranberry sauce (simple recipe below) or cranberry jam

  • Ginger beer, to top

  • Ice

For the Simple Cranberry Sauce:

  • 8 oz fresh cranberries

  • ½ cup maple syrup

  • Zest and juice of 1 large orange

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • Pinch of salt

Directions:

For the Simple Cranberry Sauce:

  • Add cranberries, maple syrup, orange zest, orange juice, and cinnamon stick to a small saucepan.

  • Bring to a boil, then reduce and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring every so often. For a chunkier sauce, keep as is. For a smoother sauce, mash with a potato masher.

For the Cranberry Kentucky Mule:

  • Add cranberry sauce, bourbon, and lemon or lime juice to the bottom of a copper mug and mix until well combined and the cranberry sauce has loosened up a bit. It shouldn’t be too chunky, so feel free to mash with a fork to get a smoother consistency.

  • Pour in ginger beer to fill up ¾ of the cup. Mix until well combined.

  • Top with ice and serve. Enjoy!
